The 7 Best Resorts in Wailea
Wailea is the most luxurious area of Maui. There are many great 5 star luxury resorts. Some are great for couples, others are great for families, and there are options at a range of price points.
Below are my favorite hotels in Wailea Maui, in order. I share the average price point, what each hotel is known for, and travel tips for visiting.
1. Fairmont Kea Lani Maui
Best for a romantic couple’s getaway
Average Price Per Night: $900 | Hotel Program: Fairmont Hotels | ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
The Fairmont Kea Lani is one of my favorite hotels in the world. I have stayed at the Kea Lani five plus times and have never been let down.
The hotel’s main draw is the selection of all suite rooms and exceptional service. The resort has three restaurants, two pools, a spa, and a fitness center.
Since the Fairmont is located at the end of the Wailea beach, it is peaceful and private. It also has easy access to Polo beach that is less busy than the neighboring Wailea beach.
There are also amazing onsite restaurants, such as Nicks Fishmarket for seafood and Ko for Asian fusion cuisine.
If you’re visiting for a special occasion, consider staying in one of the two or three bedroom villas that are directly next to the beach.
2. Grand Wailea Resort
Best for a Family vacation with young kids
Average Price Per Night: $875 | Hotel Program: Waldorf Astoria by Hilton | ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
The Grand Wailea is the best family resort on this list. The large pool area appeals to children of all ages. There are multiple pools, waterslides, caves, and rope bridges.
The main draw of the Grand Wailea is the amazing grounds, and the rooms are a bit outdated. However, they are spacious and can comfortably fit a family of four.
The central location of the Grand Wailea makes it a close walk to all the other resorts and the shops at Wailea.
3. Andaz Maui
Best for using points to book
Average Price Per Night: $900 | Hotel Program: Hyatt | ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
As you will see, the nightly rate per night hovers around $1000 per night for most of these Wailea hotels. It’s no secret that this is an expensive place to travel.
However, the Andaz Maui has the unique ability to be affordable through points. As part of the World of Hyatt program, you can book a night at the Andaz Maui from 35,000 points.
Besides being a great points redemption, the Andaz is a stunning luxury hotel. It has five outdoor pools with cabanas, 36 holes of golf, two swimup bars, and 4 restaurants.
The Andaz Maui is also conveniently located on the Mokapu Beach and is a short walk from the Shops at Wailea. You cannot beat the location of this Wailea resort.
4. Four Seasons Maui
Best for Ultimate Luxury
Average Price Per Night: $1400 | Hotel Program: Four Seasons | ✔️ Book Now
Why I recommend it:
The Four Seasons is world renowned for high-end properties and exceptional luxury. The Wailea location is no exception.
Since the resort pool does not have a waterslide or other water features, it is much more relaxing than competing resorts. It was also featured on the hit HBO show, the White Lotus.
The Four Seasons Maui has multiple amazing restaurants and a private beachside dining experience. The rooms and common areas are open, peaceful, and well designed.
5. Hotel Wailea
Best for a kid free experience
Average Price Per Night: $1000 | Hotel Program: Relais & Chateaux | ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
The Hotel Wailea is the only adults-only resort on this list. This means you won’t get splashed in the pool or woken up by screaming kids.
The Hotel Wailea is set back from the beach and has more of a jungle atmosphere than other hotels in this list. Because of this, the hotel is much quieter, but you will have a longer walk to the ocean.
This property has a large pool, three restaurants, and a luxury spa. If a tranquil getaway is what you’re going for, this is a great option.
6. wailea Beach Resort
Best for access to shopping and restaurants
Average Price Per Night: $730 | Hotel Program: Marriott | ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
This resort is great for a family vacation. It has beautiful pools and easy access to the beach. There are 4 outdoor pools, 4 restaurants, and an 18-hole golf course.
The rooms are a bit outdated, which accounts for the slightly lower nightly rate. However, you won’t spend much time in your room anyway.
7. AC Hotel by Marriott
Best for Lower Nightly rates
Average Price Per Night: $450 | Hotel Program: Marriott| ✔️Book Now
Why I recommend it:
This hotel is the most affordable on the list. However, it’s still not cheap with a nearly $500 per night rate.
Since this hotel is less expensive than others on the list, there are a few less luxury touches. However, it’s in a fantastic location and still offers the amazing perks of the Wailea area.
The AC Wailea is relatively new, so the rooms and interior are very sleek and modern. The hotel also has two restaurants, a pool, and gym.
Best Restaurants in Wailea
In addition to amazing luxury resorts, Wailea has amazing restaurants. Every resort has an amazing selection of options. Outside of the resorts, you can find many great options at the Shops at Wailea.
The below restaurants are my favorite if you are staying in Wailea Maui, but a full list of Maui restaurants is here.
Nicks Fishmarket at the Fairmont Kea Lani
If you are staying in Wailea Maui, you need to go to Nicks Fishmarket at least once. Nicks is easily my favorite restaurant in Maui. Located between the lobby and pool of the Kea Lani, Nicks has a great atmosphere and even better food.
They serve contemporary American food with an emphasis on local seafood. I love their scallops, lobster, and steak entrees.
After dinner, enjoy a walk along the Wailea beach path to help digest your amazing meal.
Humble Market Kitchen
This hidden gem is found in the Wailea Beach Resort. It has the best sunset view of any restaurant in Wailea.
Humble Market Kitchen serves amazing Asian-fusion food. They highlight local ingredients and seafood to create fresh and unique meals.
Tommy Bahama
I am a bit ashamed a chain restaurant made it on this list. However, Tommy Bahama’s is a great casual dinner option for families. Their signature dishes like coconut shrimp and mahi mahi never disappoint. Additionally, the open airy atmosphere highlights the natural beauty of Hawaii.
Fun Activities in Wailea
In addition to eating and lounging, there are many fun activities for your stay in Wailea. While some days will be spent at the pool and others exploring the island, be sure to dedicate time to enjoy the below activities near your resort.
