Las Vegas Girl’s Trip: Planning a Vegas Girls Weekend

Whether you are planning a bachelorette party, girl’s reunion or just-because getaway with friends, a Las Vegas girl’s trip will be perfect for you.

Vegas is one of the only destinations that has nightlife, great weather, fun restaurants and is reasonably priced. Follow this guide to start planning the ultimate Vegas girl’s trip and learn some great Vegas travel tips.

I’ve visited Las Vegas with my girl friends twice. The first was in college for spring break when we were all freshly 21.

The second trip was just-because when we were a bit older and a bit calmer. Both trips were amazing and full of laughs, memories, and late nights.

Planning a Las Vegas girl’s trip can be tricky because the strip is so big and it can be challenging to coordinate with a group.

This guide to a girl’s weekend in Vegas will help narrow down what to do, where to stay, where to eat, and how to plan Vegas for a group.

The Top Things To Do on A las Vegas Girl’s Trip

1. See a Show on the Strip

There are many great high-quality shows on the Las Vegas strip. Below are my top recommendations based on your group’s interests.

Male dancing show in Las Vegas
Low quality photo, high quality memories

For the ultimate “Vegas experience“…

Go to a Cirque show. There are many different variations, but my favorite is One which is entirely Michael Jackson music.

Whichever show you choose, you will be stunned by the incredible acrobatics, aerial stunts, and amazing dancing. The glitz and glam of Cirque shows is quintessential Vegas and absolutely worth the extra money.

For the hot men

Thunder Down Under or Chippendales. Are these shows tacky? Yes. Are they super entertaining? Also, yes.

Nothing screams Las Vegas girl’s trip like watching men dance around a stage in minimal clothes. These shows are extremely similar, so choose whichever fits best into your schedule.

Expect dances to different “themes” and a lot of crowd interaction.

Tip: Pretend it is someone’s bachelorette or birthday by dressing up in a sash/tiara to get the best chances of being pulled on stage.

For the bottomless mimosas

Check out Senor Frogs Drag Brunch for bottomless mimosas, (average) brunch and amazing drag queens.

Since most Vegas shows are night-focused, this morning show is a great way to balance your time. Make sure to bring some small bills to tip the performers.

For the chill night

Go to a comedy show. There are a ton of comedy shows in Vegas ranging from open-mic standup to huge comedic magic shows.

Research your favorite comedians beforehand or take advantage of low prices at the half price ticket stands while you are there.

To save money on shows, utilize the half-price ticket stands to get day-of discounts for shows. These booths can be found all over the strip and the salespeople are super helpful to tell you about the shows and coordinate group bookings.

Some benefits of using these booths is saving money and narrowing down your options for shows. A disadvantage is that all shows won’t be available, so if you have your heart set on a show, buy ahead.

2. Hit a Pool Party

Best way to relax after a long night out! Tip- rent a cabana if you are feeling fancy.

Most people do not consider daytime when planning a Las Vegas girl’s trip, but there are a ton of fun things to do.

If you are craving more partying, check out the pool parties at Wet Republic. These parties will be remarkably like the nightclubs with a-list DJ’s and lots of dancing, but the attire is bikinis.

3. Explore the Las Vegas Strip

At least once on your trip, walk the strip and check out the incredible hotels and casinos on the strip. Each hotel has its own theme and the attention to detail is incredible.

It is basically a Disneyland for adults. To make this activity even more fun, pick up a “yard” slushy from the nearest Fat Tuesdays and enjoy while you walk.

4. Take a Day Trip to Fremont Street

Fremont Street, also known as downtown Las Vegas, has a ton of fun things to do. It makes for a great day trip from the Strip.

What to do on Fremont Street:

  • Take a Slotzilla zipline down the enclosed main street
  • Go shopping and grab a bite at the Container Park
  • Visit the Golden Nugget pool to slide through an aquarium

5. Hit the High-End Shopping Malls

Maybe it’s just me, but I think shopping with my girl friends is so much more fun than shopping alone. I love trying on clothes and hyping up my friends to buy cute things.

Indulge in some retail therapy at high-end shopping destinations like The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, The Shops at Crystals, and Fashion Show Mall.

Simply window shop or treat yourself to a new outfit or designer bag.

Painted Boulders Stacked on Each Other

6. Take a Day Trip to Seven Magic Mountains

The Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale, contemporary art installation located in the desert area of Las Vegas.

The Seven Magic Mountains displays seven towers of colorful, stacked boulders standing more than thirty feet high.

Each of the towers is composed of locally-sourced boulders and is painted with a bright, vivid color. These vibrant boulders stand in contrast to the surrounding desert landscape, offering a unique and stunning view.

The installation was originally created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone and is meant to be a modern-day homage to the area’s cultural and artistic history.

The installation is open to the public year-round and is a great photo opportunity with the unique art and the surrounding desert scenery.

7. Take a Helicopter Tour

One of the most memorable things to do on a girls trip to Vegas is a helicopter tour of the strip. Yes, it’s a splurge, but you cannot beat the view of the strip from above.

8. Sip Fancy Cocktails

There are so many fun cocktail bars in Las Vegas. I love sitting around with my girls over a cocktail to chat. I swear, we can sit and chat for hours!

A cocktail bar is also a great place to grab a fun drink before hitting the clubs for a night out.

Here are some of my favorite cocktails bars on the strip:

  • Chandelier Bar – The Cosmopolitan
  • Vanderpump Cocktail Garden – Caesar’s Palace
  • Sky Bar – Waldorf Astoria
  • Bound – The Cromwell

9. Take a Day Trip

If you are taking a longer trip to Las Vegas, you may get sick of spending time on the strip. Luckily, Las Vegas is a great hub for day trips around the area.

Grand Canyon Day Trip – If you’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, this day trip is super fun and memorable, since you take a helicopter tour to get there.

Page Arizona Day Trip – Another good day trip option is to Page Arizona where you can see the slot canyons, rock formations, and Lake Powell.

10. Visit the Neon Museum

Explore the Neon Museum, where you can see a collection of vintage Las Vegas signs. It’s a unique place to grab some cute group photos.

11. Try Your Luck at the Casinos

I’m not a huge gambler, but when in Vegas, many like to hit the casinos. Even if you’re not big on gambling, the atmosphere and people-watching in the casinos can be entertaining.

If you are going to Vegas, chances are you are planning to take advantage of the club scene. Admittedly, I’m not a huge club kind of gal (I’m usually in bed by 10 pm).

But, when in Vegas, it’s a must-do! Their world class clubs with famous DJ’s makes it a memorable and exciting experience.

Getting into Vegas Clubs

The first step for successful clubbing on your girl’s trip is finding a promoter. This may sound intimidating if it is your first time, but it is super easy.

Outside all the major clubs, you will find promoters begging girls to go to their clubs for free. Since most of the clubs are owned by the same parent company, finding one promoter will set you up for the weekend.

Text your promoter each night to be added to the guest list for the club of your choice which will allow you to skip the line and enter for free. Sometimes, free drinks are included too.

Choosing the Best Clubs in Vegas

Choosing which club to visit can be overwhelming since there are so many options. If you want to find a club with the littlest work, ask your promoter to suggest one, then go there.

Here are two other ways to find a good club for the night:

1. Research which DJ’s are in town the night you are and go where your favorite artist is. A simple google search of Vegas DJ schedules will make this information super easy to find.

2. Go close to your accommodation- walking far in high heels does not appeal to most, so plan to visit the clubs nearest to your hotel.

When we stayed in the MGM signature, we could go all the way to Hakkasan without stepping outside and let me tell you, it was super nice.

Still overwhelmed by the sheer number of clubs?

Keep an ear out for these names where you will find the best artists, music, and atmosphere: Hakkasan (MGM Grand), Jewel (Aria), Omnia (Caesar’s Palace) and Marquee (Cosmopolitan).

The Best Places to Stay with a Group

Bird's Eye View Of Building During Dusk

First off, stay near the strip. Unless you are planning to spend entire days away from the strip, it will be the most efficient to find a hotel on it.

The roads are busy, and traffic can get very heavy so avoid this by staying within walking distance . Walking will be your best mode of transport to save time and money.

For a Las Vegas girl’s trip, it is fun to stay together in one accommodation to make for easy getting-ready hangouts and pre-funks.

Use VRBO to find plenty of large accommodations on the strip- mainly at the MGM signature and the Jockey Club.

Both these hotels offer large penthouses and all the amenities of a classic strip hotel.

If you want to be even more bougie, check out a penthouse at the Aria or Caesar’s Palace and live you best glam life. Both hotels are centrally located, have in house clubs and are known for a high standard of luxury.

Best Restaurants in Vegas for a Group

There are so many great restaurants in Vegas. From fancy buffets, to cheap food courts, to celebrity chef restaurants, Vegas has it all.

One challenge when visiting Vegas with a group is choosing restaurants that can accommodate big groups. The three following restaurants are my breakfast, lunch, and dinner recommendations for a group:

primrose brunch vegas

Breakfast: Primrose at the Park MGM

Primrose is a classic brunch restaurant with all your favorites such as pancakes, eggs benedict, and omelets.

The restaurant is broken up into multiple rooms that look like living rooms with a variety of seating options including arm chairs, couches, and a bar.

The seating variety here makes it easy to adapt for a group and the menu has options for everyone.

eataly las vegas

Lunch: Eataly at the Park MGM

I highly recommend Eataly for a group lunch in Vegas because the Italian food-court style makes it adaptable to different preferences.

People can choose from pizza, pasta, fish, meat, and other Italian options at the counters then all sit together.

Bellagio fountain show at night in las vegas

Dinner: Spago at the Bellagio

On a Vegas girls trip, its super fun to have one fancy dinner where you can get dressed up, sip fancy cocktails, and enjoy a nicer meal.

I highly recommend Spago at the Bellagio for this. The restaurants location overlooking the Bellagio fountain makes it super fun. Plus, the food is fantastic.

The Best Time to Visit Las Vegas

Friends on the las vegas trip
Coming from the PNW, spring was a great time to catch some sun!

Spring Break

Calling all college students and partiers- this is your prime time! If crowded clubs, extra events and college students are your crowd, spring break in Vegas is for you.

Pros: events tailored to college-age people, lots of people to meet, and great spring weather.

Cons: increased prices, college students (if this isn’t your demographic) and some residencies take their break during this time.

I visited during Spring Break in college and while it was a great experience, I would only recommend this time if you are a student.

Otherwise, take advantage of the fall or early spring for great weather and better crowds.

Summer/Winter

As expected, visiting in the middle of summer or winter will lead to extreme temperatures and therefore lower prices.

Since Las Vegas is in the desert, the summers will be extremely hot (around 100 F) and the winters will be moderate (around 60 F).

If choosing between these extremes to take advantage of the better pricing, go with winter. While it may not be pool weather, it will be plenty comfortable to walk the strip, visit the desert and enjoy the shows.

Prime Time: When I recommend

The best time to go to optimize weather, crowds and pricing will be February, May, September and October. If you can choose any time to go, pick one of these months.
