What to Wear in Mexico During the Day
During the day at a Mexico all inclusive, if I’m not in swimwear, I’m likely lounging around the resort, out on an excursion, or exploring town. For Mexico daytime outfits, I like items that can also be worn to the pool or out at night.
For example, the above matching linen set is super cute as a cover up or as an outfit. The pictured shorts are a great staple to wear over a one piece swimsuit or a cute blouse.
For fancier daytime activities such as brunch or wine tasting, I love a cute romper or sundress. For more adventurous activities, I recommend an athletic dress in performance fabric with built in spandex shorts.
Daytime footwear is as simple as a cute and comfortable pair of sandals in a neutral color. These can be worn every day and save a ton of space in your suitcase.

Mexico Nightlife Outfit Ideas
Unlike many destinations, nighttime in Mexico can be very casual. Especially at an all inclusive resort, you can get away with wearing jeans shorts and a tee shirt to dinner, if that’s what you are comfortable in.
When I’m on vacation, I like to dress up a bit more for dinner or a night out. I’ll typically pack one dress for each night, along with a pair of block heels or sandals.
Since it’s Mexico, I love wearing bright colors and tropical prints, such as the hot pink dress or floral maxi dress above.
Even for the fanciest of restaurants, the above green slip dress is as nice as you will need. Pair it with a fun sandal and jewelry for a night out.

Women’s Mexico Poolside Outfits
I basically live in swimwear most days at a Mexico all inclusive resort. With unlimited food and beverages, great weather, and tons of relaxation to catch up on, it’s a no brainer.
Since you will spend so much time in swimwear, it’s important to bring swimsuits and cover ups that make you feel great!
I’m guilty of packing one swimsuit per day for a Mexico vacation, but hey, they’re small! I like to bring a combination of one pieces and mix and match bikinis.
In the above collage, I share some of my favorite cute suits for this year.
In the top right is a super cute sparkly bikini with a matching swim skirt. I love set’s like this since the skirt is easy to throw on while walking to the pool or grabbing lunch.
In addition to a variety of cute swimsuits, be sure to pack 1-2 cover ups. With a one piece, I will usually throw on a pair of jean shorts and treat the swimsuit like a bodysuit.
I also love a linen shirt to throw on over a swimsuit. You can easily wear any of the below daytime outfits to the pool, so don’t feel like you need to pack a dedicated cover up.
Finally, don’t forget a beach bag for all your gear and a pair of waterproof sandals.
Essentials to Pack for a Mexico All Inclusive
In addition to the above outfits to wear in Mexico, you cannot forget these other essentials.
- Hat – protect yourself from the sun with a good hat
- Sunglasses – sunglasses are a must! My favorite sunnies are Rayban. Be sure to get “Rayban P” aka polarized to protect your eyes.
- Sunscreen & Aloe – protect your skin, and prepare for getting burned just in case
- Portable charger – keep your phone and/or reading device charged during a long beach day
- Imodium – in case the notorious Mexico water upsets your stomach
- Waterproof phone case – for underwater photos in the pool or snorkeling
- Towel clips – keep your beach chair secured with these clips for your towel
- A good book – achieve ultimate relaxation with a good book or a kindle with many downloaded books

Mexico Travel Day Shirts & Sweatshirts
One of my new favorite items to pack is a cozy tee shirt or sweatshirt for travel days. At the airport, you will always find me in leggings or joggers with a comfortable top and sneakers. Some people like to dress up for travel days, but that’s just not me.
To make my pajama-chic airport outfit a bit cuter, I love to wear a travel themed top. This get’s me in the vacation mode and looks a bit more intentional than a ratty sweatshirt from my closet.
The above travel t-shirts and sweatshirts are great to wear for a travel day and can be worn on other vacations besides Mexico as well.
