What to Wear to Disney World: Outfit Ideas for Each Park
Let’s chat about what to wear to Disney World. I’ve been to Walt Disney World and Disneyland at least a dozen times. There’s something so magical about the Disney parks including the indulgent food, fun attractions, and adorable characters.
One of my favorite things about visiting the Disney parks is choosing a themed outfit to wear that is cute, trendy, and not at all tacky.
This guide to what to wear in Disney World will break down how to plan an outfit for Disney World and will provide example shirts and outfits to wear to each of the four parks.
Below, I’ll explain how to put together an outfit for Disney World that is equal parts comfortable and cute. I also share t-shirts and accessories that are themed to each of the Walt Disney World resort parks – Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.

What Should I Wear to Disney World?
If you are asking yourself the question, “What should I wear to Disney World,” you’ve come to the right place. Outfits for Disney can range from costumes to group t-shirts to normal street clothes. This guide will explain how to put together cute and festive outfits that are perfect for adults or families.
When planning what to wear to Disney World, I typically choose one themed item to wear. This may be Minnie ears, a shirt, or an accessory. The above collage has many great options for basic Disney items. Once I choose this feature item, I plan an outfit around it with contrasting colors. Some outfits may be:
- Jean shorts, sneakers, and a Disney t-shirt or tank top
- A black romper and tennis shoes with Mickey ears
- White overalls and flip flops with a Disney backpack
Overall, the concept for putting together a cohesive Disney outfit is pairing staple pieces such as shorts, rompers, or dresses with the more fun Disney clothing items.
When planning your outfits, also consider function. If you are planning for a long day in the parks, opt for comfortable shoes such as sneakers versus sandals. If you have young kids with a lot of stuff, maybe opt for a Disney backpack instead of fanny pack.
In addition, Florida weather can change quickly, so be sure to check the forecast each day. Since the Orlando weather can change quickly, I like to pack a variety of shirt options ranging from tank tops to long sleeve shirts, so I can dress appropriately each day.

What to Wear to Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is probably the easiest Disney World Park to dress for. It’s home to all the classic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie, and the princesses.
For Magic Kingdom, I recommend following the same plan as above, but choosing Magic Kingdom themed characters for the Disney items. I love the above items with Mickey, Minnie, or Cinderella’s castle.
A Disney backpack or fanny pack is also a great investment that is perfect for Magic Kingdom, but will work for the other parks too. It’s a fun accessory that is equally practical to hold all your stuff.

What to Wear to Hollywood Studios
For Hollywood Studios, there are a few options for how to plan out a themed outfit. The first, in the top left is to wear an outfit that is themed to the park in general.
The next option is to dress based on the major characters to see in the park. In this case, something like Toy Story or Star Wars since they have their respective lands in Hollywood studios.
The third option is to dress for one of the iconic rides, such as the Hollywood Tower of Terror, pictured in the bottom right.

What to Wear to EPCOT
While EPCOT is more than just eating around the world and drinking around the world, the main reason I visit is for the food and drinks from each country in the world showcase.
Also, I think the drinking around the world and snacking around the world shirts above are so cute!
In addition, classic EPCOT gear is always acceptable such as the vintage short sleeve shirt or globe Mickey ears.
What to Wear to Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is so fun to dress for. You can either wear a themed t-shirt, such as the options pictures above or you can dress in safari colors.
If you choose to go the safari color route, plan your outfit around colors such as beige, green, and grey. Add on a pair of Mickey ears to make your outfit extra Disney.
For the best t-shirts to wear in Animal Kingdom, you can choose a general Animal Kingdom shirt, shown in the top right portion of the graphic above. Alternatively, choose your favorite character in the park and follow that theme. I absolutely love the Lion King shirts pictured.
If any of these shirts stand out to you, you can find them at this link.

Disney World Matching T-Shirts for Families
Matching group t-shirts for Disney world range from super cute to extremely tacky. If you like the look of matching with your group, below are some tips for staying on the “cute” side of the spectrum:
- Avoid shirts with large or busy text
- Get contrasting colors for each person in your group
- Accessorize your outfit with a cute jacket, shoes, and/or mickey ears to add a bit of individual flare
The above matching t-shirts are all great examples of matching family Disney World outfits. The top left option is great because everyone in the group or family can choose their own color to keep it from being too matchy-matchy.
Since I recommend avoiding large text, the option in the top right is a great way to include your names without looking cheesy.
The bottom left option would be cute for all the girls in the group or family to wear, with the focus on the Cinderella’s castle.
The bottom right is fun if you want to all wear identical shirts and accessorize on top of them.

Cute Jewelry and Accessories for Disney World
These accessories are a great addition to outfits for Disney World. I like how they add some Disney flair in a subtle way.
The necklaces, earring, and bracelets would all go great with any of the above outfit ideas. They’re also great to wear out to dinner in Disney Springs if you dress up a bit nicer than a theme park shirt.

What Shoes to Wear to Disney World
While themed shirts and accessories are the most fun, the most important part of your Disney World outfit is your shoes. I’ve had way too many Disney days that have ended with a sore back, blisters, or aching feet because of bad shoe choices.
I recommend packing at least two pairs of shoes so you can rotate each day. After a ton of research and trial and error, I’ve found that the below two shoes are the best for long Disney days.
Hoka Clifton Running Shoe – I’ve tried Nikes, Adidas, and other tennis shoe brands. However, my absolute favorite is HOKAs. They’re the best Disney World shoe for people with ankle or knee issues or those that are prone to getting sore feet. These will help you stay energized to stay in the parks from open to close.
Birkenstocks – Birks are definitely the best sandal for Disney World. The arch support is great for preventing achy feet and backs after a long day standing on hard ground. Once they’re broken in, Birkenstocks will conform to your feet, helping you avoid blisters that will cut your day short.
What NOT to Wear to Disney World
We’ve chatted a lot about what to wear to Disney World, but what not to wear is equally important. The two things to consider when deciding what not to wear are comfort and family-friendliness.
Clothes to Avoid for Disney world:
- Clothing that is too revealing – Disney World is a family-friendly environment and some items of clothing may not be appropriate for all visitors. This means short crop tops, super short shorts, or anything with inappropriate subject matter.
- Flip Flops – These are typically very flimsy and not durable enough for the miles you will walk during a trip to Disney. Instead, wear a more structured sandal such as Birkenstocks.
- Brand New Shoes – Even the best sneakers need to be broken in prior to a Disney World vacation. Be sure to wear your shoes at least three times before packing them for a Disney trip.
What to Pack for a Day in Disney World
In addition to Disney World outfits, it’s important to consider what to pack into the park each day. These items will ensure your comfort. Packing these essentials will also ensure you don’t have to head back to your hotel in the middle of the day.
Neck fan – We all know Florida can be super hot and humid. The best way to stay cool is with his neck fan that blows directly on your face and neck.
Handheld fan – Since one fan isn’t enough, this hand held one is a great thing to pack and is very compact
Collapsible water bottle – This bottle folds up super small and is great to stay hydrated throughout the day
Portable charger – Since your phone is also your camera, ticket, and map, be sure it stays charged with a portable charger
Sunscreen – Be sure to protect your skin and reapply throughout the day
Rain poncho – This is great to have on hand for water rides or random Florida rainstorms
